TOURNAMENT SITE
Tournament localities - Caspoggio e Chiesa Valmalenco
Behind Sondrio, we find Valmalenco, which is known
for being an authentic deposit of numerous types of minerals, offers
exciting excursions on more 60 mountain tops, 3000 m. above sea
level, with well equipped shelters. The High Valmalenco Way is a
round walk high up on the slopes of Disgrazia, Bernina and Scalino,
with a main itinerary and a series of secondary paths which link
the shelters and allow you to walk all around the valley. Chiesa
Valmalenco and Caspoggio are the most renowned centres thanks to
the ski resorts, but together with Chiareggio and Lanzada, offer
the opportunity to go for wonderful walks, exciting climbs and excursions
to the glacial lakes such as the Entova lake (1862 m.) and the Palù
lake (1921 m.).
On the side opposite to Valmalenco, that is the orobic one, the
marvellous scenery of the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi opens
out; it is a real naturalistic oasis, covered with centuries-old
chestnut woods and where one can still admire specimens of very
rare wood grouse, the symbol of the park, and chamoises, roedeer,
marmots, partridges and various species of birds of pray, including
golden eagles.
